Light in the Sky Mystery

I need help figuring out what these object are. Can you help?

There are two objects:
1) The long curved light streak passing through the tree – It looks like it might be the international space station – but it doesn’t seem to be in the right place for tonight
2) the shorter streak left of center – perhaps a shooting star?

Jan 21 2015 Austin Drone Pilot’s Education and Fly Conference Recording

I’ve been a strong proponent of drone safety since I started flying. In Dec. 2014 i started the Austin Drone Pilot’s group on Facebook which now numbers more than 1,200 members. This week I was pleased to co-host and introduce the ADP’s Education and Fly event in Round Rock. My friend and fellow pilot Lenny Tropiano was kind enough to record the presentations. You can watch the event below.

The Perfect Rainbow

On Sunday, Jan 15, 2017, as the rain passed, this perfect #rainbow formed over Austin. It appeared suddenly and faded over the next 10 minutes, as the sun set. You can also see the edges of a faint second rainbow in the corners. Second shot below has a close up of the #doublerainbow. The shots at the bottom are from my DJI Phantom 3 Pro, as the rainbow broke apart.

It was an amazing sight to behold and I’m very excited to share it with you. Have a great weekend. Be sure to follow me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for regular photos. Plus you can see my full portfolio at

Below is one of the first, early shots, from 3rd floor of a parking garage and a below that, a close up of the double rainbow section.

The Perfect Rainbow

CVS_0176I was actually downtown when the storm moved in, coming south to north. I saw it coming as the sun was setting. So I drove southwest to a parking garage with the hopes of perhaps getting a small rainbow over downtown Austin. I was extremely surprised to see an entire rainbow appear. After a few shots on the third floor the rain died down and I moved up to the top floor of the garage to get this one below. By then it was already fading.CVS_0228-cware

And below, as it faded, I got the drone in the air (Phantom 3 Pro) for a couple panorama shots, complete with raindrop on the lens in the first photo.

DJI_0048-PanoHere is another aerial panorama shot a few moments later as the rainbow breaks apart into two and the storm moves north.
